On a random drive beyond the ORR (everycity has this ...it is called the Outer Ring Road), chanced upon this lake..(on a later browsing through wikimapia, the name Kokapet lake popped out)..the road over the bund ends dramatically in shallow depression beyond which lay a small hill..probably one of those that surround the Osman Sagar dam.
The bund seemed freshly topped by layers of the sandy soil that abounds in the area..although further kilometre ahead I could see layers black cotton soil along the ORR.
That brings me to why am writing abt - it has grand view on both sides...the old covered canal that snakes away from the Osman Sagar across Narsingi and Sheikpet right upto foothills of Banjara Hills beyond the Artillery Garrison at Mehdipatnam.

Will attach few pics here, and add more of the crazy developments taking place right into the lake bed.

But right now the area seems a nice enough place to spend a hour there. The elevation here is such that you can the ICICI buildings and other towers that have mushroomed along (ISB) road.
